I want to market myself as a photographer. I have a website, I've done wedding and concert photography, and I even did a photo essay in NYC during 9/11. My question is....how do I start selling myself and this stuff?

Hi there .. ok .. u got the first step right .. thats having a website .. although i was hoping that u had a link here so i could give u some advice on what to have there as i am a graphical and web designer .. anyways .. i will assume that it's cool .. - here is my advice .. the only way people will start comming to your is by knowing that you exist .. and u do that by putting adv. in any posible place .. and if necesary get paid adv. - The more people know you the better .. - Jobs will come slow at first .. but in no time u will need someone to scratch your head for yaa :P - You need to provide a good quality pics .. acceptable price ... and some compatative services. - try to have something that makes u special and different from others in the same field. Thats all i htink .. hope u already know how to work on photoshop .. if not .. start working on it .. will help alot .. hope everything works with yaa .. by the ways .. i have some sort of project that we could work on together .. Check with your internet provider or webdesigner to see how your site comes up under various search engines. Some photographers only put their name and "photographer" in their meta tags. there should be more words, news photography, fine art photgraphy, buy fine photography, things like that, or any words that will draw search engines to your site.

Craigslist yourself

Register as a photographer in big websites taht allow photographers to have portfolios. I can suggest you jurgita.com which has a big community of photographers and creating a portfolio is free. Also look at their photography forum. I think you will find a lot of useful information there. Good luck with your career :)
