Grand Canyon Trip Photography Tips?
Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone had some tips for an amateur photographer such as myself starting out. Im interested in artistic portrait photography. At the weekend I took some photos of a friend in costume, with various props like feathers in hair, mirrors, skulls etc.. Anyway, my downfall was I didn't have good lighting as the house lights are too yellow and the flash was much too strong. I can imagine real photographers reading this are cringing so I do apologise for butchering the art, but I am here to learn. I would be very greatful for any tips on aperture settings, modes, anything at all or even what bulbs i could use in lamps to harmonise the light like a studio. Do white sheets reflect well ? Anyway keeping in mind im on a low budget so I cant go out buying studio lights just yet. So I need home made fixes if there are any. I really appreciate any answers and will give 10 POINTS to a good answer. Thanks
1) learn to use the camera properly... doesn't matter about the make and model, just the ability...
Read your Camera instructions for the correct settings and you should get on OK.
there is so much i could tell you. I love photography... anyways i will start with lighting because that is what you asked about.... lighting hints tips...Yes, you can edit images later, but good lighting and backgrounds saves time. Halogen work lights or desk lamps are adequate, widely available, and far less expensive then lights sold for photography studios. In a pinch, high-watt incandescent lights work. Fluorescent lights are the least usable, because they require the most color correction. Avoid tinted lights unless you are photographing weird scenes and special effects. I was forced to take some pictures under strong yellow light once, because the product was light-sensitive, and the color correction was extremely difficult. email. comment me more.. ps a great tip for models plus lighting is mirrors. /behind yourself ( the photographer) . Models can see what there ding clear and light also is reflected.. ( make sure models are not glaring into the mirror always unless that is what you want them to do.)
If you aren't looking to spend money the best thing to do is to take your shoots outside. Natural light is wonderful for photographs. Stay out of direct sunlight. Overcast days are just lovely for taking photos. Find a place with lots of shade and not in the middle of the day when the sun is shining directly down on everything. A fold up reflector is a great tool to have (as is a spare set of hands to hold it). They are also very inexpensive. Here is a little article that might help you learn to use one. as much as you can about your camera is definitely your strongest tool though. Read any available literature you have about it if you haven't already. Just understanding aperture and shutter speed is not enough. with DSLRs these days you can control SO much to achieve different looks. Good luck! Have fun :)
If the flash has a bounce head you can bounce off white walls, but that is a bit random for portraits. A smaller bounce card attached to the flash (Lumiquest) or translucent material over the flash. Although the Hollywood style portraits were shot using tungsten, you will need a lot of wattage and there consequence of a lot of heat but you can produce dramatic effect by using a powerful torch for dramatic effect. If you join your local camera club, you can get access to studio and lighting at a low cost.
| As early as years 10-15-20 (not to mention 30-40) back art workers (and their managers, labels and тд) were only a little poorer нефтевых than magnates. With distribution of the Internet they have started to grow poor. Scandals and investigations have begun. But it does not help a situation. For modern culture such crisis that world financial in comparison with it - simply lovely child has come. It is possible to tell that the culture sinks in a bog, but it will be not absolutely fair. More similar, as if our art has lost the way in desert and dies of dehydration, becoming similar to a skeleton more and more. In the musical plan - too. |
